Last summer I had the wonderful opportunity to second shoot a local wedding with the lovely Nikki Leadbetter Photography. Iona and James’ wedding took place in South Uist, the beautiful island just below mine. It was one of the rare times in my career where I’ve not had to travel at least the day before for a wedding.
As a second photographer your job is to assist the main photographer, covering moments they’re not present for and providing an alternative perspective during key moments like the ceremony. This allows you to capture a wedding in a different format, telling the other side of the story. I mostly focused on the groom preparations and guests.
Many thanks to Nikki for allowing me assist her on the day, it was a wonderful experience and hopefully the first of many island weddings.
