Last month I attended one of Melissa Love’s Styled Shoots in a gorgeous little farm in West Sussex. The shoots are organised for like minded photographers to get together & shoot some beautifully styled scenes. This was the first styled shoot I had ever taken part in so was not too sure what to expect. It was a different experience to my usual couples shoots, as you are shooting alongside other photographers & take turns to direct the models. This helped improve my ability to think quickly & focus on getting those keys shots when it was my turn to shoot. It was a hugely inspiring day & a great opportunity to photograph such gorgeously styled scenes.
The day consisted of 2 styled shoots, led by 2 photographers I admire – Lisa Devlin & Jo Brown. The first shoot was a mythical & sumptuously styled woodland wedding scene titled ‘The Spirit of Beltane’. Beltane is the May Day festival, a celebration of spring & fertility. The themes of the shoot revolved about passion, life & new beginnings. It was pretty much my dream ‘wedding’ to shoot. The models, real-life couple Kristy & Sam, were fantastic. They have an incredible energy between them & were such a joy to photograph. I could’ve photographed them all day..
The second shoot will be shared in another post. Enjoy looking at these beauties..
